Privacy policy
This policy explains what General Matters AI Pty Ltd ("we", "us") does with personal information collected through generalmatters.ai. It is written in plain language. If anything is unclear, write to hello@generalmatters.ai.
What we collect
- What you tell us. If you use the enquiry chat or a form, we collect the answers you give, anything you type in your own words, and your name and email address if you send them.
- A website address you give us. If you paste a link so we can start your preview, we read the public pages at that address, and only that. We do this to save you typing.
- Technical information. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We also use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It records things like the pages you view, your approximate location, and your device and browser, and it sets cookies to do that. It does not receive your name, email address or anything you type into the chat.
We do not ask for payment details, passwords or government identifiers anywhere on this site.
Who reads it, and what the assistant is
The enquiry chat is software, and it says so. A person at General Matters reads every enquiry. We use what you tell us to reply to you, prepare a scope and a quote, and decide whether we are the right people for the work.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of providers to run the site. They process information on our behalf.
- Hosting. Vercel, Inc. hosts the site and the small server function behind the chat.
- AI classification. Text you type into the chat is sent to TypeSafe, which runs a model that sorts your answers into categories (for example, the kind of work you are describing). It is used for that purpose only.
- Email. Our email runs on Google Workspace. Enquiries and replies pass through it.
- Analytics. Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, receives the usage information described above. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
- Advertising measurement. The Meta Pixel, provided by Meta Platforms, loads on this site. It tells Meta which pages were viewed and when someone sends an enquiry, so we can measure and improve ads on Facebook and Instagram. It sets cookies and may match visits to Meta accounts. It does not receive what you type into the chat. You can control this in your Meta ad settings or by blocking cookies in your browser.
- Fonts and music. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. The optional sound player loads YouTube embeds when it is used, and YouTube may set its own cookies.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to advertise to you.
Overseas disclosure
Some of the providers above store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose providers that state how they protect personal information, and we ask them to handle it only for the purpose we gave them.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to reply and to do the work, and we delete them when you ask us to, unless the law requires us to keep them.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to hello@generalmatters.ai. We will reply within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your information, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
